A COVID-19 RESPONSE PROJECT
WELCOME TO FORWARD DIALOGUE
Just Some Theatre’s Forward Dialogue initiative invited writers of any experience to submit their unperformed and original scripts for developmental online readings with actors and directors in July.
We asked applicants to submit a full (unperformed) theatre script. Our team then selected ten submissions and each shortlisted writer were given a £70 fee for participation in the next stage, a reading of an extract (chosen by the writer), and feedback from an online audience, actors and a dramaturg/director.
The next round saw three of those scripts taken further, with each writer receiving an extra £150, plus a further, more in depth script reading, after which a final script was chosen and the writer awarded an £800 prize and the option of having actors develop the script further, supported by Just Some Theatre.

We will also be offering production advice and helping to springboard scripts into production when the theatre industry is operating again.
FORWARD DIALOGUE AWARD
Round 2 was a other fantastic evening which made choosing just one a difficult decision. However, we'd like to give a warm congratulations to Charlotte Souter who we gladly award the £800 and consultation with Brush Stroke Order for her play Happy!.
ROUND TWO

ROUND ONE
Below are the brilliant 10 scripts we chose to programme for Round One of Forward Dialogue. We were overwhelmed by the fantastic quality of so many of the scripts we received, and it was such a tough call to decide on ten to feature in the final lineup.

Forward Dialogue is being ran by Just Some Theatre, with the aim of developing new writing during the COVID-19 pandemic. We aim to help these scripts to have a further life once the theatre industry is up and running again, and to champion the writers behind them.
