A COVID-19 RESPONSE PROJECT

MR TEN PER CENT - by Olu Alakija

Tony and Nicole, a middle class, black British couple have been trying for years to conceive through IVF treatment. Tony is a teacher and considered a role model within their community. One night whilst Tony is on his own Dante, a young, rude, working class, streetwise boy turns up claiming to be Tony’s son. The play follows the generational clash between the two of them, Tony trying to come to terms with the fact that he may be an absent father, the lack of role models for black boys as well as the devastating impact of infertility on relationship issues.

Mr Ten Per Cent was one of the final 3 scripts that made it through to the 2nd Round of Forward Dialogue.
